A New Study in the book of Colossians

A 3 Leaf Bible Study

I am excited to share a new Bible study method that we have been testing at my home church. Several years ago, the Lord led me to shift my approach to teaching and writing Bible studies. The goal has been to teach women how to study the Bible for themselves using an inductive approach while explaining the approach and method rather than just providing questions to answer, which I’ve called the Dig In Bible Study Method. Over the years, and with help and feedback from an amazing group of women who love to study the word of God, the Lord has led me to further develop the Dig In Bible Study Method into one that offers levels of study for all stages and seasons of life—from those who are new to studying the Bible to those who are seasoned Bible learners, and everyone in between. I believe that the study of God’s Word is so meaningful and rich when it happens in community with others—as we gather and learn from one another in the power of the Holy Spirit. It is my prayer that this new method will encourage women of all stages and seasons to study together and learn from one another.

The 3 Leaf Bible Study Method is designed to meet you where you are in your reading and study of the Bible and in your current season of life. The image of a leaf has been used to indicate the level of study as we work through the basic study method of observation, interpretation, and application. I encourage you to do the homework each week at the level you feel most comfortable. My heart’s desire is that you will grow in your study of the Word and move from one level to the next as the Lord leads you. This is YOUR time with the Lord in His Word, and He will meet you where you are.  The study guide and method are simply tools to help you grow in your study of the Word, so that you might know Him more and live out His Word in ever-increasing measure in your daily life.

In this first study, we will be in the New Testament letter of Colossians. This study includes a section full of Bible study resources and helps, as well as background on the book of Colossians, to aid you in your study. My prayer is that we will learn what it means to persevere in the midst of hardship and to turn to Jesus in our time of need. I hope you see in this beautiful book of the Scriptures who God says you are in Christ Jesus, and how anchoring your identity in Him changes everything!

I pray that as you work through this study, you’ll find yourself growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in your understanding of how to study God’s Word.

Rejoicing in Christ Jesus,
